Packing tape dispenser

Now don't laugh when I tell you this but I've just spent the last hour figuring out how to get a roll of packing tape onto the dispenser with no joy . I tell you forget about your rubics cube and your krypton factor!!! If you're like me this one will have you pulling your hair out.

Can anybody tell me how it's done.... answers on the back of a postcard to steve at gormless manor!!!

PS
The tape goes on as shown on the link but the sticky side is on the outside pointing downwards. it then goes between the roller and the metal plate comes up with the sticky side facing outwards past the serrated edge and up to theplastic lip that sticks up, but a picture will make it easier to understand

The tape should follow the path shown mate. The tape comes off the roll at the top, and over another small roller, round the front to present the sticky side out.

When you use the gun the tape is dispensed off the front and you press the clear plastic flipper on the box to seal the tape down and cut it

Slightly edited version as I got off me bum and went and got mine out of my car for a looksee

Looking closer it may take this route which is almost the same as mine except for the small roller under the drum of tape

I hate them things... I used to work for a computer games retailer and during big releases we had to help out in the warehouse packing orders etc. I could never get the hang of using them, I could put the tape on and apply it to the box but could I get it to cut the tape off after each application???

The knack is just to roll the tape dispenser off the top of the box and wack it against the side without changing hand position.

That way the clear flappy thing gets pressed against the outside of the box, cutting and pressing the tape down at the same time

Hi, here's a useful film on how to load a tape dispenser - http://www.directa.co.uk/site/script...oduct_id=17140

Nice diagram!

I usually run the tape under my left arm and around my back before going over the roller. I guess that explains a lot...

(My tape dispenser is call "The Missus" as I use one roll per box. )
